JOHN LEE HOOKER The Blues Man (Rare 1963 US 12-track stereo LP on a blue Battle label, pasted picture sleeve. Originally released in 1960 with a different title [That's My Story: John Lee Hooker Sings The Blues], this stunning set strips Hooker's sound back to raw, direct country blues, with Hooker accompanying himself on acoustic guitar throughout, and featuring Sam Jones on bass and Louis Hayes on drums. The result is an intimate studio album that puts the focus squarely on his voice, timing and rhythmic control, heard across tracks including I Need Some Money, I'm Wanderin' and No More Doggin'. The sleeve is graded Very Good with discolouration visible but no rips/tears etc. The vinyl grades Excellent with some faint blemishes visible which have no effect on play BLP6113).
