complete symphonic cycle of Tchaikovsky, conducted by
Mstislav Rostropovich, alongside three major
orchestral works: Manfred Symphony, Romeo and Juliet
(Fantasy Overture), and Francesca da Rimini.
Long regarded as one of Rostropovich's most compelling
orchestral statements, the performances were recorded in
1976-77 and form the core of a cycle praised for its authority,
emotional breadth, and distinctly Russian character. The set
has been newly remastered for the first time in high
definition from the original master tapes, transferred at
192kHz/24-bit by Studio Circé. Presented as Hybrid SACDs,
the discs offer both SACD and standard CD compatibility, with
the high-resolution layer delivering increased clarity,
dynamic range, and orchestral detail compared to previous
editions. Produced by David Mottley and engineered by
Neville Boyling and Michael Gray, these recordings benefit
from the extended headroom of the SACD format, revealing
greater depth in the strings, weight in the brass, and
improved spatial definition across the orchestra. Issued by
