BLACK SABBATH Technical Ecstasy (2015 UK/EU limited edition 8-track LP remastered and pressed on 180-gram black vinyl. Recorded in the summer of 1976 at Miami's famed Criteria Studios, Technical Ecstasy finds Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward pushing beyond the crushing doom of their early records into a more expansive, experimental sound. Fresh from the Sabotage world tour - where keyboards and synthesizers had started to seep into the live set - the band brought those textures into the studio, folding them into a set that veers from hard-driving rock to soulful balladry and funk-tinged prog. The album swings from the turbo-charged opener "Back Street Kids" and the swaggering "All Moving Parts (Stand Still)" to the more cinematic "Gypsy," while "It's Alright" stands out as a genuine curveball: a melodic, piano-led ballad featuring Bill Ward's first lead vocal on a Sabbath track. The result is one of the band's most intriguing and divisive LPs - a snapshot of Sabbath in transition, restlessly reshaping their sound in the mid-'70s. Picture sleeve, factory sealed). |
