YES Close To The Edge (Never-Before-Seen Press Kit
for the classic 1972 UK 3-track LP, comprising a first press stock
copy of the vinyl LP on the original dark green & orange Atlantic
label [second issues were a lighter shade] with the earliest
A1/B1 machine stamped matrices in the run-outs, complete with
the green lyric inner [later issues were white] & the original
fully textured gatefold picture sleeve [second issues
were smooth] with silver outline around the artist/title logo on
the front. This collector's copy comes complete with an exclusive
13" x 13" oversized folder in glossy white with the Yes logo in
graduated blue print top right. The folder comprises a 10.5" x
8.5" glossy black & white publicity photo of the group from 1972
as well as an exclusive 12" tall fold-out press release printed on
textured blue paper with the Yes band logo & Atlantic logo in
darker blue on the front - the printed notes inside include
biography info for each band member, they also highlight their
latest album 'Close To The Edge' currently winning worldwide
acclaim with recordings for their Yessongs live album already in
the can. This rare as hen's teeth press kit was likely assembled
for just a small select handful of industry insiders that year,
possibly in anticipation of the filmed Rainbow Theatre, London
concert in December 1972, we'll never know! It appears to never
have been documented until now. The delicate folder remains
fully intact with no tears & shows some light creases from
handling in the past. The LP cover has been sat inside the folder
& remains in Excellent condition with nice clean panels & just a
tiny hairline fracture in one of the top edges is noticeable. The
first press vinyl is clean & grades Excellent, showing the odd
faint paper hairline not affecting play. Highly unlikely to ever be
