The sleeve
The minimalist nature of the art means that any signs of wear or discolouration are immediately apparent. This copy has survived extremely well with only the lightest signs of yellowing creeping in to the white sleeve, but nothing to take away from the striking art, which still continues to surprise today.
There is just a little barely visible ringwear with a small crease to the reverse top & bottom corners and some areas of laminate lift to the front top left and reverese bottom right, with all the laminate still intact & secure. The reverse top & bottom right corners have a little discolouration where the laminate has become a little loose, with no great impact on the reverse art.
The spine has no text and is still strong & firm with just a couple of small creases and a little area to the bottom where the laminate has become dislodged.
All in all this is a wonderful example graded Ex-, with no splits, tears or writing, and the white as sparkling as one could hope for a half century on!
The black die-cut Apple inner has just a 1cm tear to the opening and shows just light creasing with no splits or tears.
The vinyl
The labels are clean with no tears or writing and just a few scant signs of spindle wear, indicating minimal play, which may be due to the challenging nature of the album!
The matrices SAPCOR 2A-1/SAPCOR 2B-1 are stamped into the run-out grooves.
The vinyl has been professionally cleaned on a top of the line Matrix machine. Both sides retain a wonderful deep sheen with superb playback.
The vinyl looks fantastic and extremely hard to find in such a condition. The vinyl grades as EX-/VG+, there are a few light paper scuffs, probably sustained whilst going in and out of the sleeve and a light hairline, all of which are only really detectable under close scrutiny. The quality of vinyl from this period is well documented and this is no exception!
This is a highly recommended copy and one that we are unlikely to find again. An essential item which has interest to both Beatles collectors as well as lovers of Avant Garde & Musique Concrete.
