CONTACT FIELD ORCHESTRA Vol. 1 (2013 US 16-track vinyl LP. This bizarre album comes with a great quote: "Sounds like Tom Waits & Augustus Pablo smoking opium on the bayou(!)". Contact Field Orchestra is the result of American producer, Damon Aaron, finding some strange looking tapes in a box at an estate sale in Altadena. The tapes turned out to contain field recordings of a turn-of-the century orchestra of ex-miners, recorded almost entirely with hand-made instruments & contact microphones! Aaron then remixed the sounds to produce this remarkable, hypnotic sounding record. Comes housed in a fully textured & screenprinted picture sleeve with five inserts including four stickers.
