Roy Orbison Deroy Sound Service Record UK 10" vinyl single (10 inch record)
Tracklisting / Additional Info: Obtained from a keen fan who, in his mid-teens, circa 1963-4, had the opportunity to meet Roy Orbison 'backstage' on several occasions at Finsbury Park & elsewhere. On this occasion, he met Roy at his hotel with other adoring fans at The Westbury in Conduit Street & was given this very record as a gift.

The Deroy label is well known amongst serious record collectors for a small but wide ranging output, essentially a tape-to-disc service. Founded by brothers Derrick Marsh & Roy Marsh, most of the labels output is clouded in mystery.

LABELS :-

The studio labels are printed by Deroy Sound Service with a stickered address at the top reading '(A.D Marsh) High Bank, Hawk Street, Carnforth, Lancs.' These are annotated with the tracklist & artist name in blue biro either side. The founder's initials begin the catalogue numbers & thus 'ADMLP243/244' is machine stamped in the run-offs.

SLEEVE/VINYL :-

The record comes housed in a plain white 10" sized sleeve with annotated tracklist, a giant fan club sticker in the centre with fan club address detail. What is reported to be Roy Orbison's signature can be seen in the top right corner in biro, verified by its original owner.

The vinyl, although played considerably, appears to be in Good order with light wear to the grooves & just faint hairline marks not upsetting play, & is still in the original poly bag. The material included would be of great interest to any completist, for it contains a very rare promo advert recording for Coca Cola which went unreleased.

This item includes a letter of provenance which relays the story & is signed & verified by its owner. Any further history into Deroy recordings would be hot on the trail for any keen collector, an incredible piece!
