LITTLE WALTER The Best Of (Blues Hall Of Fame 1958 US 12-track deep groove mono LP on the black & silver Chess label, widely acknowledged as one of the greatest Blues albums of its day on Chess. This, Little Walter's LP debut, collects ten songs that appeared in the Top 10 of the Billboard R&B chart from 1952 to 1955. Comes housed in a thick pasted picture sleeve with 'Sheldon Recording Studios' logo on the back. Condition :-

The pasted cover appears outstanding. The monochrome design has lost none of its impact & the print on the back is clear & legible & still largely off white with no writing. There is a thin 2" hairline split at the bottom opening & a small tape reinforced area along the bottom edge. The spine is majestic & the spine text is clear as daylight with no blemishes. A Very Good example indeed.

The vinyl has received a deep professional clean on a top of the line Matrix machine. It has come up looking sparking. The labels are unblemished with no writing or tears. The heavyweight vinyl sits nicely on the turntable & plays like a dream. On a mono setting, any background surface is all but eradicated. There are a couple of faint clicks on occasion as to be expected, & the sound quality is immense. There are no jumps during playback & the music is clear with no distortion & packed with bar-room atmosphere. Little Walter's harmonica sounds seemingly beamed down from another planet on some of the tracks, it is out of this world. It is so mean in places, you could cut down forest trees with it. Some very faint crackle is detectable inbetween tracks, not intrusive in the slightest. From a visual standpoint, there are a number of light paper hairlines & the odd faint scuff both sides, but having play tested both sides, we can confirm this is a stunning VG example. They don't come much better these days!
