This sinister release into the black abyss is the second variant on Oslo's Deathlike Silence Productions, a Norwegian independent founded & run by Øystein 'Euronymous' Aarseth. Euronymous was the former guitarist of the Black Metal band Mayhem, until he was murdered by Varg Vikernes of Burzum in 1993. Vikernes was sentenced to twenty-one years in prison & was also convicted of the arson of three church burnings. Burzum's home address was swiftly removed from the back cover & replaced with a Voices Of Wonder address, a shoe-string company who handled the distribution from thereon. Strictly limited to just a thousand copies, finding one of these not tied up in a private collection is extemely rare indeed.
The word "burzum" means "darkness" in the Black Speech, a fictional language crafted by Lord of the Rings writer J. R. R. Tolkien. The monochrome sleeve is perhaps the most eerie of all designs we've ever seen, with a low-grain shot of the Count in corspe-paint in the corner of a room on the back! As sinister as it looks, this is a stunning one owner copy. The sleeve is in near mint condition. The vinyl is clean & appears Excellent, playing without any faults, with just a few minor paper scuffs to detract from a higher grade. This album is one cold day in hell... we only have one!
