Ripe to bursting with superlative songs, this was a staggering album by a true master of his craft.
The very first presses of this album used the same sleeve for both the mono and stereo version, with both catalogue numbers on the back slick. The differentiator was the application [or not] of an oval 'Stereo' sticker on the front.
This sleeve was also notable for the layout of the title text, which extends over three lines into the portrait. Later issues corrected this to two lines of text, both sitting above the portrait.
This press was also intended to have a lyric insert, which wraps around the edge of the sleeve to display the titles. The final sheet of this insert is detached, but it is so rarely found at all that it's nice to see one complete.
Condition:
The sleeve shows just light shelfwear with some minor creasing at the corners and some edge scuffing, but far less than is usually found on a sleeve of this type. The insert shows a little creasing and minor age yellowing but unusually it IS present.
The vinyl is superb with very little sign of play at all, just a few very light paper scuffs if you care to take a magnifying glass to it.
All in all a superb, Complete copy of this classic album in very respectable condition indeed.
