The Sleeve
This has obviously been ripped across the bottom at some point and has been tape repaired by some now quite yellow clear tape way back in the distant past. Apart from that, there is a little scuffing to the top seam, but the spine still remains clearly readable. The pasted rear slick shows a little discolouration as an inevitable result of its years, but far less than you would normally see. All text is clear & readable. The front too shows less wear than you would expect for a fifty year old sleeve of this design. Because of the tear, we can only really grade this sleeve as Fair to Good, but without it would be nicely into the VG+/EX- bracket. For an album as rare as this one, it remains a very acceptable sleeve despite its flaws.
The Labels
These are 'Deep Groove' versions of the West 63rd Address label, twice as rare as the regular version, which is hard enough to find anyway. Both sides are clean & free from writing, stickers, excessive wear or any other blemishes.
The Vinyl
The Rudy Van Gelder initials 'RVG' & the 'ear' logo [although it looks like a 'C' to me!] are stamped and etched into the runoff area. The matrices, like the 'ear' are hand scratched.
The vinyl remains in a very acceptable VG/VG- condition. There are a few visible scuffs and the odd surface scratch, but they fail to affect play in any way whatsoever with the disc completely playable throughout. There is a degree of surface noise evident, most noticable in the quieter passages, but upon playtesting the visible scuffs were found to be little more than cosmetic, although the odd click can be heard at times.
So, there you have it. Not mint, but not wrecked either.
A very acceptable copy of this extremely rare record for a fraction of the four figures that it would normally cost you.
