THE RATS The Rats (1980 US 15-track vinyl LP - a wonderful issue of Fred Cole's post-The Lollipop Shoppe project's eponymous debut album. After the demise of King Bee, Fred Cole went on a mission to secure a stable band line-up and so taught hiswife, Toody [also co-founder of Whizeagle Records], to play bass and procured the services of Rod Hibbert, aka Rod Rat, on drums. This eclectic mix of punk/garage-rock with elements of country remains one of the underground's best kept secrets. Presented in a fantastic monochrome sleeve, this issue remains FACTORY SEALED and therefore UNPLAYED for almost 30 years - a truly fantastic item, steeped in history).
