CATE LE BON Me Oh My (2009 UK 10-track CD album - A new force in song-craft, Cate Le Bon first gained public attention when she supported Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals on his 2007 solo tour and appeared as a guest vocalist on Neon Neon's 2008 single, 'I Lust U'. As befits a songwriter who only writes in the dark, the album is a heady and highly personal Gallic stew of equal parts Nico, Bobbie Gentry, Stephen Malkmus, and the chronicler's own emotional observations on the impossibility of existence. Artfully composed with a classic five a side formation, this lovingly constructed album boasts a concise palette of instrumentation played live by Cate and a fluid band of close friends. Perfectly illuminating both her writing skills and haunting vocals with understated menace and beauty).
