ROLLING STONES The London Years (Incredible 1989 German
collection of ALL TWENTY 7" vinyl singles
reproducing all of the original German releases & sleeves on
London from 1963 to 1969 - From 'Come On' through to 'Street
Fighting Man'. Each7" is in its own textured picture sleeve.
The miracle with this collection is that it was manufactured by
Polygram in Germany then EXPORTED to Japan,
where it has remained in storage in its original Polygram
mailing box, complete with custom flat packed counter display
box ever since (That is until our intrepid Japanese buyer
re-discovered it). This copy is as sweet as the day it came off
the line in Germany all those years ago but not without a few
little record company errors & unique touches that makes this
series very collectable in its own right. It's seldom that all
these juicy goodies are gathered together in one place at one
time, all near 'as new' & complete with the original counter
display box. You could spend many, many years trying to
collect this little lot [if, that is, you can find MINT copies of all
of them] & even if you did, the chances of finding a twenty
year old counter display box are, as Elvis Costello put it 'Less
Than Zero'. A top notch find!) See 'More Info' for further
details ...

The Rolling Stones The London Years - Twenty 7" Singles + Display Box German 7" vinyl single (7 inch record / 45)
|
Tracklisting / Additional Info: |
The sleeves & vinyl are fantastic, just as they were twenty years ago when they came off the
production line. The counter display has never been assembled and will hold all twenty singles if required.
It is shocking pink in colour with Rolling Stones in white down the front & The London Years
on the side.
The only 'defect' as such is that this was stored exactly as it was sent out from Germany
after its release on 10th July 1989, so some of the sleeves do evidence the beginnings of
edge splits as a consequence of the vinyl being still in the sleeves as they were shipped to
Japan then stored for twenty years. It's so insignificant as to be almost not worth mentioning, but with something as special as
this, it would be remiss of me not to.
The Singles (In 1989 catalogue number order, not original order of release) are all classic
wide centred injection moulded vinyl (OK, styrene to be strictly correct) German press
singles (you know - round, black, shiny ... that sort of thing) and are all with their
textured picture sleeves as released in 1989. The 'wear' or 'aging' that can be seen on some of the sleeves is actually printed on to give them a vintage feel as befits the concept of a complete re-issue of the original formats & each & every one remains unplayed!
01. Mother's Little Helper / Lady Jane [882128-7] - As released in 1966 (using the 'Got Live' EP basic picture)
02. Come On / I Want To Be Loved [882130-7] - Record company boo boo as this pairing was issued in the UK only. The sleeve is unique in that it is a new title sleeve based on the blue Decca swirl design where the original was an orange stripey sleeve. If you're going to cock-up, make it good :-)
03. I Wanna Be Your Man / Money [882132-7] - as issued in 1963
04. It's All Over Now / Tell Me [882134-7] - As issued in 1964 except for the 3:44 Version of Tell Me replacing the original 4:06 Version.
05. Satisfaction / The Under Assistant [882136-7] - As issued in 1965 except using a remixed version of Satisfaction
06. The Last Time / Play With Fire [882138-7] - As issued in 1965 except sleeve is a colour version instead of the original black & white shot
07. Get Off My Cloud / The Singer Not the Song [882140-7] - Another anomaly as this features much the same sleeve design as Satisfaction (using the 'Got Live' EP basic picture). This, once again, is the UK coupling where the original German release had I'm Free as the B-side
08. 19th Nervous Breakdown / As Tears Go By [882142-7] - As issued in 1965
09. Paint It, Black / Long Long While [882144-7] - As issued in 1966
10. Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby / Who's Driving Your Plane [882146-7] - As issued in 1966
11. Not Fade Away / Little By Little [882148-7] - As issued in 1964 except sleeve is a colour version instead of the original black & white shot
12. Little Red Rooster / Off The Hook [882150-7] - As issued in 1964 except sleeve is a colour version instead of the original black & white shot
13. Let's Spend The Night Together / Ruby Tuesday [882152-7] - As issued in 1966 except it now contains the full 3:36 Version instead of the 3:14 fade of the A-side
14. We Love You / Dandelion [882154-7] - As issued in 1967
15. Jumpin' Jack Flash / Child Of The Moon [882156-7] - As issued in 1968
16. Honky Tonk Women / You Can't Always Get What You Want [882158-7] - As issued in 1969 except now including the 7:29 'full choir'version of YCAGWYW instead of the original 4:53 Version
17. Little Queenie / Love In Vain [882160-7] - As issued in 1971
18. Street Fighting Man / No Expectations [882162-7] - As issued in 1969 except now featuring the LP Version of the A-side
19. 2,000 Light Years From Home / She's A Rainbow [882164-7] - As issued in December 1967
20. Time Is On My Side / Congratulations [882166-7] - As issued in 1964 except now with the 'guitar intro' version instead of the original 'organ intro' version
