The beautiful young violinist Vanessa-Mae was just in her mid-teens when she shattered the mold of the classical virtuoso with the release of her first fusion album The Violin Player, forging a new style that has made her a multi-million-selling worldwide phenomenon and the breakthrough artist who virtually defined the fusion of classical and pop that became known as crossover.
It was her interest in new arrangements for violin of her favorite classical melodies that led Vanessa-Mae to seek more than the traditional repertoire could offer. The result of that quest was The Violin Player and the string of successful crossover discs that followed.
Vanessa's first fusion album, The Violin Player resulted in a hugely successful 34 date concert tour to promote the album, entitled The Red Hot Tour, which was recorded and a DVD was later released.
The tour was so well received that upon its completetion the tour promoter Mel Bush commisioned this beautiful mirror to celebrate and commemorate the success and presented one to Vanessa and kept one himself as a souvenir - something he had been doing since the 1970's with all the acts he promoted.
Now semi-retired, Mel has decided to part with his treasured archive of mirrors and plaques and we have been enlisted to help him find good homes for his collection.
The mirror itself is a portrait design measuring 33" x 23" including frame. It features a stunning large full colour picture of Vanessa and her famous white violin with her name emblazoned in blue. The bottom portion of the mirror has all the tour dates printed in black with the wording 'Many Thank, Mel' in red.
An effective design that is certainly eye-catching and remains in perfect condition having been preserved in bubblewrap in the Mel Bush archive for 13 years since it was commissioned.
