As emblematic of its time as of its sorcerer-like creator, 1967's Are You Experienced unleashed Jimi Hendrix onto a world in the midst of such cultural and musical shakeups that it really didn't seem as "far out" as it actually was. It wasn't just Hendrix's virtuosic skill as a pure player that was so impressive; it was, even more, the range and scope of sheer sound that he coaxed, cajoled, and ripped out of his instrument. "Purple Haze," "Manic Depression," and "I Don't Live Today" filled ears with indelible sonic images, and songs like "Foxey Lady" and "Fire" pointed the way toward a new brand of rock-charged soul music.
CONDITION
The labels are orange/red Polydor labels with some marks around the spindle hole indicating play but nothing excessive.
The matrix numbers 184085 A and 184085 B are machine stamped into the dead vinyl along with the date 1967 which is also machine stamped.
Visually the vinyl shows shome light cosmetic surface marks, these are inaudible and probably caused by bad handling and a paper inner bag.
This album is highly collectable as it is an original 1968 release that was issued in STEREO (UK copies were mono only) The stereo separation is astounding!
Housed in a stunning fully laminated non flipback picture sleeve which benefits from beautiful vivid colours, sharp corners, undamaged edges and spine, clear spine print and fantastic imagery. The only minor flaw being a small crease in the laminate approximately half way down the front of the sleeve. This flaw looks to be original and not something that has occured with time. It does not detract from the overall beauty of this collectable foreign issue!
