Following Journey Through the Secret Life of Plants, this release finds Wonder delivering a fully self-contained body of work that functions both as a film score and as a standalone studio album. The record is dominated by "I Just Called to Say I Love You," Wonder's most commercially successful single, which reached number one across multiple territories and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. The album also includes the US Top 20 hit "Love Light in Flight" and "Don't Drive Drunk," later repurposed for a widely broadcast US drunk-driving prevention campaign.
