David Bowie The Man Who Sold The World - Dress Sleeve - Withdrawn UK vinyl LP album (LP record)
|
Tracklisting / Additional Info: |
The Vinyl The labels are black & silver with '(p)1971' print. There are spindle marks to show play by the centre hole & the labels are bright & clear with no writing or tears. The vinyl has been professionally cleaned & play tested & the sound quality is superb, with no jumps or sticks, just the occasional 'click' in some of the quietest sections [please note this is very minimal]. The vinyl is carefully graded EX/EX- & exhibits no scratches or heavy marks. On close inspection, there are a few minor paper hairline scuffs visible either side under a bright light which do not affect play. We haven't seen the original vinyl in this type condition for a very long time. It's now a serious collectors item for the Bowie fan looking to invest & should be stored carefully. The musical content featured on this album does not differ in any way from the countless reissues on both vinyl & CD, & so a highly playable copy of this album can easily be found.
Sleeve The unique, withdrawn picture sleeve to this album is legendary & the major selling point here. This particular cover is now extremely difficult to find as an original, & when & if found, it is usually found ripped, torn or excessively worn due to its fragile nature & texture. The front of the sleeve has clear colours, the texture is fine. There is some light shelfwear but no writing & no splits. The delicate edges do exhibit some scuffing. The spine's edge & corners reveal some scuffs & the spine's text remains clearly legible. Both panels are nice & clean & the design is strong & vivid.
Note, the original cover is matt & finely textured (like wallpaper) & the original misspelling of Mick Woodmansey on the back ('Woodmansley'). The spine is printed top to bottom, correctly. The clock on the mantlepiece is visible & Bowie's foot is clearly in shot, all indicators of a genuine first pressing. Overall, this is an Excellent example of an increasingly rare & desirable cover design & one of the best we have found in ages.
With so many good counterfeits of this sleeve on the market, we are pleased to be able to offer this GENUINE article here, so you can buy with confidence !
A wonderful item & increasingly in demand, this is the jewel in any Bowie collection.
