PINO PALLADINO & BLAKE MILLS That Wasn't A Dream (2025 UK/EU 7-track LP pressed on black vinyl - Pino Palladino and Blake Mills reunite for their second collaborative album, That Wasn't A Dream, released via New Deal / Impulse! R ecords. Following the acclaimed Notes With Attachments in 2021, the pair continue to blur the lines between improvisation, composition, and collaboration - with a sound that feels exploratory yet deeply intentional. Recorded at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles, where Mills has long been based, the album features contributions from saxophonist Sam Gendel and drummer Chris Dave, whose performance drives the Fela Kuti-inspired single "Taka." Elsewhere, the duo move fluidly from the soft, hypnotic textures of "Contour" to the percussive intensity of "Heat Sink," expanding their boundary-pushing dialogue of rhythm and melody.
