After years of anticipation us kids of the 80s and those who were only a sparkle in their fathers eyes, can unite as one and celebrate the coming together of the world's finest rock & pop stars as they performed simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London and Philadelphia's JFK Stadium on July 13th 1985 in this historic event, which was broadcast to a worldwide audience of over 1.5 billion [and has so far has raised £100 million for African famine relief] Although there are some big names missing from the final release including Led Zeppellin, who refused to give permission for their awful performance to be used [although they have generously donated proceeds from another DVD release] all the big names, many still around today, are featured plus the 'Food & Trucks & Rock 'n' Roll' documentary, bonus performances [including the comical David Bowie & Mick Jagger 'Dancing In The Streets' video] and the original BBC news report by Michael Buerke which spurred Sir Bob and Midge into action. Try and remember where you were on that amazing day, and who would have thought that nearly 20 years down the line....... |
