The Machman East Grinstead, West Sussex UNITED KINGDOM Created Tue 21st Sep '10 12:59 (GMT) | | Review Hi NickW - I've seen your comment on the condition of the sealed sleeve. I work in the print & design industry, so can advise you that album covers used to be produced with a gloss or U/V varnish finish to them. Whilst this looks great, over time the varnish will naturally harden. Without care, it will fray or crack particularly on fold edges. Unfortunately, when a product is also sealed in cellophane, over time the varnishes will stick to this. I collect a great deal of old vinyl & as you, prefer to source mint copies if can. However, I'm always wary of sealed copies due to the detrimental effects cellophane & polythene can have on a cover. I tend to store my vinyl in PVC sleeves for protection, but I regularly remove them from these to let the air get to them. Judging by the fact that newer & present day releases have covers that are produced on textured or uncoated cards, it seems the record industry has finally got wise to the effects that cellophane has on ruining the covers! Hope this is of use. | [reply to this topic] |

factory sealed & unopened with a vintage 'Virgin' store
