 | | Review: DEVO - Something For Everybody Very bouncy tracks, in the same vein as Smooth Noodle Maps and Total Devo. New single Fresh does grow on you after a few listens, but their early stuff, I think, is still the best. "March On" is probably my personal favourite with "Later Is Now" and "Don't Shoot (I'm A Man) close seconds. "Step Up" reminds me of something from Smart Patrol. "Sumthin'" + "Cameo" are also good tunes with Devo's typical humerous overtones. "Please Baby Please" sounded similar in style to The Wipeouters. "What We Do", "Mind Games" and "No Place Like Home" are all worthy album tunes, but I suppose if I had to choose my least favoured, I would say "Human Rocket" - But that's just me. But on the whole, after a few listens, this disc was definitely starting to grow on me. I love Devo and have virtually everything they have done - CD and Vinyl - so I am gonna be biased. But, after 20 years, I think this is an excellent addition to anyones collection. Duty now for the future!!!! | [reply to this topic] |
