After releasing two albums in the early 80’s which were moderately ignored by the public, he spent the next few years writing for other artists including rock legends KISS. In 1984 he released ‘Reckless’, which contained the hits ‘Summer Of 69’ and ‘Run To You’, songs that have since become synonymous with him. In 1991, he released 'Everything I Do) I Do It for You’. The song became a massive hit spending an incredible 16 weeks at number one in the U.K. In 1997 following the success of thr Grammy winning 'Waking Up the Neighbours', he became the latest rock star to take part in the highly successful MTV Unplugged series which served as a stopgap until his next studio album, ‘On a Day Like Today’. In 2005 he released a stripped down basic rock record with the critically acclaimed ‘Room Service’ which was written and recorded whilst on yet another world tour.
