The 1976 debut and sole
album from the UK musician, songwriter and producer Paul
Fishman's prog rock project, built around the ancient
astronaut theories of the Swiss author Erich von Däniken.
Fishman originally discussed a collaborationwith King
Crimson's RobertFripp, who suggested drummer Bill
Bruford instead, and Bruford plays throughout the
record. The sessions employed state-of-the-art recording
techniques and instruments across various European studios,
creating what Fishman calls 'prog done proper'.
The
album has proven influential beyond its original cult standing:
death metal band Blood Incantation named their 2024 record
Absolute Elsewhere after the band, and tracks
from the album have been sampled by J Dilla, Future and
Benny the Butcher. This 50th anniversary pressing has been
fully remastered and remixed, and is a limited
edition of 500 numbered copies. Includes a 16-page
booklet featuring an essay by Erich von Däniken and updated
liner notes by Paul Fishman. Recommended.
