LP pressed on Gold
Vinyl. Whodini emerged from New York's early
'80s hip hop scene as one of the first groups to bring a
genuine R&B sensibility into rap, a fusion that would go on to
lay the groundwork for new jack swing. Their debut single,
"Magic's Wand," became rap's first commercially released
music video and was produced, somewhat unexpectedly, by
synth-pop artist Thomas Dolby. Their live shows also
broke new ground, becoming the first rap concerts to feature
official dancers, courtesy of UTFO's Doctor Ice and Kangol Kid.
This collection draws from across Whodini's early,
platinum-certified catalogue, including "Friends," "Five
Minutes of Funk" and "One Love." Picture sleeve with gold
hype sticker) )
