FREDDIE MCGREGOR Lovers Rock Showcase Jamaica Style
(Numbered Limited Edition 2026 UK/EU 6-track LP
pressed on 180-gram Orange Vinyl, limited to just 750
individually numbered copies)
The 1981 showcase
album, known in the UK as Lovers Rock Showcase Jamaica
Style, marked a pivotal moment in the singer's career.
Prior to this, McGregor had enjoyed only modest success,
though his work, crafted with various producers, had
consistently showcased a talented artist with an authentic
voice. A major turning point came in 1979 when he teamed up
with producer Winston 'Niney' Holness to create the acclaimed
Mr. McGregor album.
Roots and romance are in
perfect harmony as Niney's dub magic meets McGregor's spin
on classic soul, just as the title promises. Recommended.
