DEFTONES Deftones (2025 UK/EU 11-track LP re-released on vinyl. First issued in May 2003, Deftones is the band's fourth studio album and one of the most expensive rock albums ever recorded, made on a $2.5 million budget that places it among the costliest records in music history. Produced by Terry Date, who had worked with the band since their 1995 debut Adrenaline, the album marked the last collaboration between Date and the group for nearly two decades, until 2020'sOhms. The record moves the band's sound into more atmospheric, genre-spanning territory, drawing on trip hop and shoegaze influences alongside Stephen Carpenter's characteristic low-tuned guitar work, and reached number two on the Billboard 200. Lead single "Minerva" hit the top 10 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart, while "Lucky You" brings in DJ Crook from Chino Moreno's side project Team Sleep alongside guest vocalist Rey Osburn.
