individually numbered and limited to 1,000copies. The
Sugarhill Gang's self-titled debut is widely considered the first
hip hop studio album, built around "Rapper's Delight," the
1979 single that became the first rap track to reach the Top
40 on the Billboard Hot 100 and gave millions of listeners
their first exposure to hip hop. The group were also among
the very first rap acts to record a full-length LP, making this
album a genuine founding document of the genre. This edition
includes the original 7" single version of "Rapper's Delight"
as a bonus track. Housed inside and individually gold-foil
numbered gatefold picture sleeve with gold hype sticker.
