This is a wide-ranging, candid conversation recorded for the Radio 1 special, with Chris Evans opening by warning listeners about strong language before the pair settle in over wine. From there the interview covers George Michael's relationship with fame and image - his discomfort with his own appearance despite cultivating a glossy public persona, and his sense that the flamboyant, self-assured performer people see is a deliberate act distinct from who he actually is. He talks about his uneasy history with the tabloid press, including the libel case he won against The Sun, and reflects on how he's grown largely indifferent to being written about, except when friends or family are dragged in.
