METALLICA with MICHAEL KAMEN conducting THE SAN FRANCISCO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA S&M (2015 UK/EU 21-track triple album 3-LP set pressed on classic black vinyl. Recorded live on 21-22 April 1999 at the Berkeley Community Theatre, S&M documents a rare pairing of Metallica with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Michael Kamen. The idea for the performance grew out of bassist Cliff Burton's love of classical music, an influence audible throughout Metallica's own writing on albums like Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets, and one the band drew out fully here across a 21-song set. The programme spans the band's catalogue from "Master Of Puppets" and "The Call Of Ktulu" through "Nothing Else Matters," "One" and "Enter Sandman," alongside Ennio Morricone's "The Ecstasy Of Gold" as the concert's opening piece. This edition is released on Metallica's own Blackened Recordings label. Housed inside a gatefold picture sleeve, factory sealed).
