PETER GABRIEL Peter Gabriel IV (Half-Speed Master Edition 2016 UK/EU 8-track LP, the first vinyl reissue since 2002. Originally released in 1982 Peter Gabriel, also known by its US title Security opens with a song inspiredby Carl Jung's own account of watching a group of African drummers push a Western observer into psychological breakdown. "The Rhythm of the Heat" climaxes in a genuine explosion of Ghanaian percussion, performed live by London's Ekome Dance Company, tearing the song apart from the inside. Co-produced with David Lord and recorded as Gabriel's first fully digital album, using early Fairlight sampling technology, the record fuses cutting-edge studio tools with the drumming traditions Gabriel had become fixated on, a mix that feels genuinely unlike anything else being made at the time. Featuring the bass & stick skills of the masterful Tony Levin, with VDGG's Peter Hammill providing backing vocals on three songs. It also delivered "Shock the Monkey," his first US Top 40 hit and a fixture of early MTV. This edition marks the album's first vinyl reissue since 2002, half-speed remastered. Picture sleeve with original cover artwork, hype sticker & factory sealed).
