VARIOUS ARTISTS The Space Project (2014 UK Record Store Day limited
edition 14-track Seven vinyl 7" box set. A unique compilation
of songs featuring Youth Lagoon, Beach House, Spiritualized,
Mutual Benefitand more. The source material for these tracks
were originally recorded by the Voyager 1 and Voyager 2
space probes, launched by NASA in 1977 and still uses to
study the outer solar system. Audible frequencies such as
those made by musical instruments are caused by the
compression of air or other gases and cannot propagate in a
vacuum such as space. The 'songs' recorded by the probes
aren't sounds in the conventional sense; rather, they're
produced from electromagnetic radiation fluctuations in the
magnetosphere of the celestial bodies. Each disc comes in
their own sleeve and housed in a card slipcase, still sealed in
the hype stickered shrink LEFSE064-7).
