A highly influential figure in the English folk music revival, being a source of songs and musical inspiration for others such as A.L. Lloyd, Bert Jansch, Jimmy Page, The Watersons, June Tabor, Sandy Denny, Richard Thompson and Maddy Prior. This is one of the precious few albums she left to history as she never really bothered about the traditional views of 'success' and 'fame', preferring instead to play a constant series of small clubs throughout her career. By all accounts, a determined woman who knew what she wanted from life and 'pop star' was not a part of it.
To those in the know, she has continued to influence to this very day and this is one of the many reasons that her all too few studio recordings are treated like the rare jewels they are.
This copy is a stunner.
Condition:
The sleeve remains a beautiful white with the merest few light creases to the front laminate to show for its forty plus years. The spine and unlaminated rear text remains clear and as readable as it did in 1971. The only flaw that can be listed is a common one to affect this design of sleeve from the period. When filed, they often stuck to their neighbours as a result of a bit too liberal application of the adhesive to fit the front laminate during manufacture. This led to a couple of millimeters 'sticky area' just beyond the end of the laminate. Consequently, there is a small strip of intermittent paper loss about one to two millimeters wide at the edge of the end of the laminate on the back, although this does not go so far as to affect the text. To get a sleeve this beautiful, this is a small price to pay and, trust me here, you won't let it bother you when you see the rest.
The vinyl is also in matching condition. Pressed on good old solid vinyl that has retained its sheen and, although played, has obviously been well looked after and has no defects or blemishes to speak of. I can't think of much else to say about the vinyl as it really is beautiful and to all intents and purposes near 'as new'.
Even the poly lined inner remains white !
A wonderful copy of this great and elusive album in spectacular condition. If there are better copies out there, then good luck finding them. We've certainly never seen anything like this one in over thirty years of trading.
