METALLICA Tour Pass Pack (Stunning set of SEVEN genuine
unused and unissued Tour Passes manufactured by the U.S backstage
company Otto, plus an early commemorative patch. This set includes
four rectangular passes for the 91-92 'Wherever WeMay Roam' tour,
one triangular pass for the 'Stadium Tour Summer 1992' with Guns
N'Roses, two circular passes for the 'Nowhere Else To Roam' 1993 tour
plus an early commemorative patch for the 'Van Halen Monsters Of
Rock '88' festival tour. The passes are printed in small quantities on
adhesive cloth with a removable paper backing, this set has the 'OTTO'
logo and address clearly printed on the back and the commemorative
patch also made by Otto has advertising on the back. Otto were
responsible for supplying the majority of passes throughout the 1970's,
1980's and 1990's)

This set includes:
FOUR rectangular passes for the 91-92 'Wherever We May Roam' tour with three featuring identical designs of the classic 'Metallica' logo across the top left corner with '91-92' text below all in black & white along with coiled snake image in black, at the bottom is the 'Guest' black & whute text along with a blank space for a name/id to be written - the background colours of the passes are different and are red, orange and blue.
The other pass for the same tour is for the 'Snake Pit' with a pink/purple design on a white background, featuring a pink coiled snake with a purple triangle and 'I Was On Stage' purple text at the top with 'Metalica 91-92' in the middle and 'In The Snake Pit' & 'As a SPECIAL GUEST of:' at the bottom with a blank space for a name/id.
ONE triangular pass for the 'Stadium Tour Summer 1992' with Guns N'Roses and features both band logos, 'Stadium Tour Summer 1992' in the middle and 'Local Crew' text at the bottom and a black/white space in the middle for a name/id to be written.
TWO circular passes for the 'Nowhere Else To Roam' 1993 tour both featuring identical designs [one with a blue and one with a yellow background], features the classic 'Metallica' logo at the top with '93' below and 'Nowhere Else To Roam' in the middle along with a coiled snake image, across the middle is black/white space to write a name/id and 'After Show Only' text at the bottom.
The early commemorative patch for the 'Van Halen Monsters Of Rock '88' festival tour is square with a red background, features a black & white dragon eating a guitar image, down the left side are the lists of acts with Metallica at the bottom [lists Van Halen, Scorpions, Dokken, Metallica and Kingdom Come], plus has 'June 22-23, 1988 Akron Rubber Bowl' all printed in black. The back has a discount vouncher for the 'Kill Em All' album.
Information On Passes
The passes would have been custom manufactured on adhesive backed rayon acetate satin cloth with a removable paper backing, the early versions simply had a plain backing but soon started to have the manufatures name/logo and sometimes the address printed.
Bands touring multiple cities and large venues had their passes printed on large sheets, with layouts featuring multiple designs including different colour combinations plus details for different tour staff and areas of access.
Only a few are then cut into the different shapes so that there is no waste. Usually at the end there some printing overruns, set-up sheets, color test prints, printer's proof sheets, and discarded misprints which are usaually destroyed but some do survive and are very rare and are highly collectable.
