The original UK stereo releases (1966-67) used the 1966 US mix and had a printed "STEREO" logo at the top centre of the front cover. Later stereo releases (1968-69) used the mono cover with a hexagonal gold foil "Stereo" sticker on the back. The records have orange CBS labels. The 1968 US mix was not used in the UK until around 1982.
The first release of the album used a 'rough' textured stereo label with centre boxed logo, with "BLONDE ON BLONDE" above "Bob Dylan", "RECORD 1" etc. on the right, and showing the record speed as just '33' & not '33 1/3'
The stamped Matrices in the run off are SDDP 66012 A/1, B/1, C/1 & D/1.
The inners are of the orange CBS catalogue type.
Condition :-
The sleeve is in beautiful condition with no smoke yellowing on the non-laminated internal gatefold. The nine pictures inside include that of Claudia Cardinale, which was removed from later presses.
The sleeve is front laminated with 45º edged internal flipbacks.
The spine is still clearly readable & the front also shows no evidence of fading or age yellowing. There is minimal evidence of general shelfwear with just a few light creases visible at the edge of the laminate & no edge scuffing at all to speak of.
This copy has obviously been stored very well indeed.
The vinyl itself matches the sleeve. It is beautiful with just a couple of light spindle marks around the label centre to indicate play.
Upon close inspection, there are no obvious hairline marks apart from one light scuff on side four which does not affect play. Thanks to the solid [and correct] pressing techniques of the time, this small blemish is predominately cosmetic in nature & gives the piece the correct 'feel', without detracting from the amazing sonics of a 1966 original.
A wonderful copy of this forty year old album!
