FRANK ZAPPA Civilization Phaze III (1994 US 41-track
mail-order only double CD, gatefold hardback picture sleeve
with integral booklet. This was the last 'real' release by Frank
& it explores some of the improving technology of the
Synclavier,while expanding his own compositional style freed
from limited human musicians. Of its time, a fair amount of
the music is dark and sombre, but Frank being Frank there
are 'Lumpy Gravy' style interludes, so the Conceptual
Continuity continuedright to the end. It is posited that the
mastering is better on the US version with greater detail at
the high & low ends, but we cannot confirm this as this copy
remains factory sealed from new UMRK01).
