CLIFFORD JORDAN Night of the Mark VII
(Remastered Edition 2026 US 5-track LP
pressed on 180 Gram Black
Vinyl)
This Time Traveler
audiophile reissue was cut all-analogue (AAA) directly from
the original analogue tapes by Matthew
Lutthans at The Mastering Lab. The album first
appeared on Muse Records in 1975.
Recorded in Paris
on March 26, 1975, it captures the tenor saxophonist with his
working quartet: pianist Cedar Walton,
bassist Sam Jones and drummer
Billy Higgins. The set is straight-ahead
hard bop that pairs drive with lyricism. It has the muscular
yet melodic sound that marked Jordan's work through the
1970s. Jordan's broad tenor tone leads 'One For Amos',
'Midnight Waltz' and 'John Coltrane', his tribute to the
saxophonist. Walton's light touch and Higgins' relaxed swing
sit beneath him.
An insert carries newly written liner
notes by Willard Jenkins, Jr. and Barney Fields, with a rare
photograph by Raymond Ross. Housed in a Stoughton Old
Style tip-on jacket. Hype sticker & factory sealed.
