Exclusive 2026 US 11-track LP pressed on Daydream Yellow
Vinyl. Alabama Shakes' first new album in over
a decade began with no real plan beyond the threeof them
playing together again, building outward from demos bassist
Zac Cockrell had recorded at home. Brittany Howard has said
the process felt genuinely different this time: "With this album
everything was coming together in real time, we were never
sure what would happen next, and that felt exciting."
Produced with longtime collaborator Shawn Everett at
Nashville's Sound Emporium and Blackbird Studio, the record
leans into psychedelic soul, built partly around unusual
instruments including harpsichord, sitar and flute. "Time,"
one of the first songs written for the album, closes with an
unplanned two-minute improvised jam, the band's first, while
closer "Tied You" grew out of a studio glitch that accidentally
overlapped two vocal takes, a moment Howard has called
"psychedelic Sade." Picture sleeve with bonus
