BILL WITHERS Just As I Am (Limited Edition 2026 UK/EU 12-track LP pressed on 180-gram Translucent Yellow Vinyl, originally released in 1971. Bill Withers was a 32-year-old factory worker at the Weber Aircraft plant, still assembling toilet seats for 747s, when Booker T. Jones agreed to produce his debut album, recorded during studio time literally borrowed from Stephen Stills, who ended up staying on to play guitar throughout. Jones brought in his own Booker T. & the M.G.'s rhythm section, Al Jackson Jr. on drums and Donald "Duck" Dunn on bass, backing a singer who'd never made a record before in his life. "Ain't No Sunshine," originally tucked away as the B-side to "Harlem," went on to win Withers a Grammy for Best R&B Song and remains ranked among Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. The album itself sits at number 304 on their list of the 500 Greatest Albums. This special edition is individually gold-foil numbered from a limited edition of 7,500 copies, housed in a deluxe sleeve with linen laminate finish. It includes a booklet featuring a reflective essay on Withers by writer, poet and civil rights activist Kevin Powell. Recommended)
