BARRINGTON LEVY Money Move (2026 UK/EU 8-track LP, restored and remastered on black vinyl for its first release outside Jamaica in over 40 years. By the early 1980s, Barrington Levy had emerged as one of the defining voices of Jamaican dancehall, a teenage prodigy who'd already helped establish the genre's harder, more danceable sound alongside producer Junjo Lawes before recording Money Move for George Phang in 1984. The album is built on rhythms Sly & Robbie createdspecifically for Phang's productions, a rhythm section that shaped much of dancehall's sound throughout the decade, and features "Money Move" itself alongside "Praise His Name," a track that went on to become a genuine anthem within Jah Shaka's UK sound system scene. The record was recorded and mixed at Dynamic Sounds and Channel One, two of Kingston's most storied studios, and edited at Prince Jammy's Music Room. Unavailable for over 40 years and never previously released outside Jamaica, this edition marks the album's first appearance in the UK, restored and remastered for its best-ever sound. The sleeve reproduces original artwork by celebrated Jamaican illustrator Wilfred Limonious, whose work has become highly collectable in its own right. Recommended).
