this edition restores one of Eno's most celebrated and
sonically adventurous works.Originally released in December
1977, <I>Before and After Science</I> stands as Brian Eno's
final solo venture into art-rock of the 1970s before he fully
embraced the ambient explorations that would define the next
phase of his career. Balancing jagged, rhythm-driven
experimentation with serene, meditative beauty, <I>Before
and After Science</I> reveals the full scope of Eno's creative
vision. The album's first half features taut, angular tracks
such as "No One Receiving", "Backwater", and the nervy
"King's Lead Hat" (an anagram of Talking Heads), while the
second half drifts into shimmering soundscapes with "By This
River", "Julie With...", and "Spider and I." Featuring
contributions from <B>Robert Fripp, Phil Collins</B>, and
members of <B>Can</B>, the album bridges the gap between
experimental rock and the ambient minimalism that would
