Released in February 1985, No Jacket Required is Phil Collins's third solo album and the record that completed his transformation from Genesis drummer into international pop superstar. It won three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Performance and Producer of the Year, andwent on to sell over 25 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time and certified twelve times platinum by the RIAA. In the UK, it topped the album chart and has been certified six times platinum, with more than two million copies sold. The record's biggest hit, "Sussudio," began life as pure studio improvisation, Collins later explained he was working out chords over a drum machine pattern when the nonsense syllables simply emerged and stuck.
