triple album 3-LP compilation pressed on 180-gram audiophile
Black Vinyl. Before Clapton ever touched them,
"After Midnight" and "Cocaine" were J.J. Cale songs, written in
his ownlaid-back, behind-the-beat style that would go on to
define an entire sound. "Call Me the Breeze" became a Lynyrd
Skynyrd hit; Cale's own version here is leaner, quieter, and
arguably sharper. This 44-track collection is the full picture:
theoriginals behind some of rock's most famous covers, plus
"Crazy Mama," "Cajun Moon," "Money Talks" and the deep
cuts that show why guitarists from Clapton to Knopfler have
called him one of the most important songwriters in American
music. Housed in a wide-spine single-pocket picture sleeve
with a 4-page picture booklet and gold hype sticker.
