DEXYS MIDNIGHT RUNNERS Too-Rye-Ay - 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition
Following the critical and commercial success of 'The Projected Passion Revue' from January of this year, it is with great pleasure we announce the 2-CD '25 Anniversary Deluxe Edition' of Kevin Rowland and Dexys Midnight Runners' best-known album, 'Too-Rye-Ay'.In summer 1982, after an 18 month period in pop's wilderness, Kevin Rowland marched his then-current edition of Dexys Midnight Runners back to the top of the pops with the album, 'Too-Rye-Ay'. Combining the trademark horns of the earlier line-ups with the sound of fiddles, strings and female backing vocals, Rowland created a Celtic soul stew reminiscent of one of his musical heroes, Van Morrison. The album, although never one of Rowland's personal favourites, saw the group adopt a new image of wild urban gypsies. This look, and the lead single, the unmistakable 'Come On Eileen', took the charts by storm, and provided an antidote to the high camp post new romantic posturing of the day. Although with Rowland's celtic twinkle, perhaps this really was the music that was the most romantic of all.It is hard to believe that this much-loved record is now 25 years old. To celebrate, this Deluxe Edition is the most complete snapshot of this era of Dexys yet. With notes exploring Rowland's Irish odyssey by long-time Dexys writer Gavin Martin, this set brings together the original album, all relevant in-era A and B sides, the BBC concert from Newcastle that introduced the album to the listening public, as well as the group's David Jensen Radio One session (both available in their entirety on CD for the first time) and the never-before-released original version of 'Let's Make This Precious' from November 1981.

The Pixies' iconic lead singer Frank Black dons his decades-old moniker, Black Francis and, imbued by the spirit of eccentric Dutch painter/musician Herman Brood, recorded a brand new set of 11 songs, collectively titled 'Bluefinger', due for release on Monday 3rd September. The album will be preceded by a new single, 'Captain Pasty' on Monday 27th August.Directly or indirectly, all 11 songs reference Brood, known as the "Dutch personification of 'sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll.'" Brood was a rock musician going back to the 1960s, and he and his band, Herman Brood and His Wild Romance, experienced success in Europe, and even scored a top 40 hit in the U.S.A. in 1979 with 'Saturday Night'. He was outspoken and in the public eye for decades, in part due to his relationship with the German artist, Nina Hagen. His art has been exhibited at galleries and at the Museum of Groningen in Amsterdam, and he created murals, considered by many to be valuable contributions to Dutch culture and art, in various public spaces around that city. A hard drug user for many years, he swore off most drugs later in his life, but the damage had been done. In 2001, he was told he had only a few months to live, and later that year, committed suicide at aged 54 by jumping off the roof of the Amsterdam Hilton Hotel.'Bluefinger' showcases a Herman Brood cover, 'You Can't Break a Heart and Have It,' and ten Black Francis originals including 'Threshold Apprehension,' which is a bonus track on Frank Black's 1993-2003 'best of' album, which was released on Monday 18th June.As Black Francis, Boston and Los Angeles-bred Black was one of the architects of modern rock as front man of the Pixies, whose "loud-quiet-loud" dynamics, primal scream intensity and free-ranging compositional style exerted a huge influence on alternative music. His solo recordings as Frank Black demonstrated his artistic restlessness, embracing alternative pop and avant-garde rock with equal fervor; he continued exploring this territory with a new band, The Catholics, for several years before journeying to Nashville to create two critically-acclaimed albums with producer Jon Tiven -2005's 'Honeycomb' and the more intense, upbeat 'Fast Man Raider Man' in 2006.

Battle preview their forthcoming debut album 'Break The Banks' with the release of a single entitled 'Paper Street' on August 27th on Transgressive Records. 'Break The Banks' follows a week later on September 3rd.  Produced by Geoff Knowler and mixed by Adrian Hall [The Young Knives] 'Paper Street' is the first full single release to be taken from the 'Break The Banks' set. Once again highlighting the strength and range of frontman Jason Bavanadan's songwriting, 'Paper Street' follows the recent limited edition 7" single 'The Longest Time'."It's questioning why, when people suffer and they ask for help, why they more often than not don't get it?" explains Bavanadan in relation to the song's theme. "I can't understand why a beneficial force in the universe, a god, would allow that to happen".Battle are currently spearheading a new initiative by Love Music Hate Racism in a bid to take a positive anti-racist message direct into the heart of areas known to have an existing or growing BNP presence. The band will be heading to Lancashire, Leicestershire, Morley and Barking & Dagenham to play lunchtime shows in schools, before taking part in and leading workshops aimed at counteracting the threat posed by the racist ideas pushed by the likes of the British National Party who have recently been exposed as having a major push to recruit school students.

plus T-Rex, Kevin Rowland, Linda Thompson, Patti Scialfa, Stephen Fretwell, Rumble Strips, Noisettes, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Sir Michael Caine, Philip Glass, Fleetwood Mac, Johnny Winter, Roy Harper and Jamie Cullum....
