Congratulations to our good friends over at Planet Rock for picking up Digital Station Of The Year award at this year's prestigious Sony Radio Awards.
Described by the judges as "A station with extraordinary passion, knowledge, surprise and depth", Planet Rock beat off competition to take home the prize.
And they had success in the other categories that they were nominated in, with a Bronze in the Multiplatform Award for their superb monthly artist minisites (for this months click here) and a Silver heading to Fish for The Music Broadcaster of the Year.
It does beg the question of how a station which continues to trounce BBC 6 music, consistently increases its audience share, and has bee named station of the year again can be under the threat of closure!! Let's just hope that a certain curly haired guitar wizard manages to ride to the rescue.

I believe it is a test pressing, They have a plain white label with hand writing on one side of each record. label reads "Depeche mode-everything counts-Sandiego 1990". It's bizarre that both of these discs appear to contain the exact same tracks, yet in a completely different running order. Why do labels insist upon constantly mixing up the song order, rather than presenting the songs IN THE ORDER THAT THE ARTIST INTENDED?! Hi there,
I like Oasis a helluva lot, but I'm not a collector of their items, though I do have a few promo cd's. I have identified most, but one that I can't find any info out about whatsoever is a 7 track sampler that was sent to me some time ago by a company.
The cd is what looks to me as a post production recording. There is no cat. no., reference in markings at all, just the 10th Planet contact details around the innermost blank circle of the cd.

Don't look back in anger
An Oasis fan did tell me he'd heard of the promo, but never knew why it was 'pulled'.
It was sent in a plastic wallet with a white printed inset sleeve with Oasis in black with the track listing below and (p) 2002 Big Brother Recordings Ltd in the bottom right hand corner. On the reverse along the bottom is the 10th Planet logo and their contact details.
If anyone can help with any info I'd really appreciate it!

a copy of "The Beatles Talk" was given to me by my friends mother, other than a very small water mark on a few pages (the mark does not compromise any photos or texts and is exceptionally small).
All pages and photos are in great condition. I have a feeling the person who gave it to me did not know what they were giving away

 I find, is usually a load of pretentious crap but the idea of the Ebbsfleet Landmark Project seems a good one to me and is not 10 minutes away from us here at EIL.
5 artists have been shortlisted to design a project to symbolise the new Ebbsfleet Valley development and the surrounding areas including the nearby Eurostar train station.
Obviously my idea of a scene showing a big fight between a load of illegal immigrants from Kosovo & some local chavs outside McDonalds in the pedestrianised Gravesend high street didn't get nominated, so i'm leaning towards Mark Wallinger's white horse (provided it is lit up at night) or the cubed tower from Daniel Buren, even if he is French (Europhobe, moi?).
Anyone else made their choice?
Not in the class of Antony Gormley's (who really is a truly talented artist) Angel of the North but should certainly become a talking point when it's finished sometime in 2010.
No contest for sporting event of the weekend - Let's hope the mighty Eagles can crush the Wurzels...

Garbage.
The cover art shows pics from 1993 Van Halen, with Sam Hagar jumping int he background. The material on the dvd is the US festival from 1983.
The music does NOT align with the video clip. In fact it got so bad, that when it was supposed to be Runnin' With The Devil, the music was Jaimie's Cryn'. Ridiculous
No Hagar at all. (thank God) But all it was was 9 songs from the US festival all edited and chopped to sh*tz.

It is a pretty interesting CD Single that includes a great title song and 3 classic Roxette songs.
It might become a good items to present Roxette to a new person. It has color prints that have pictures of the whole band and people involved in tour.
