 | | Review: Most progressive music of the 1970's hasn't aged brilliantly but no collection from the era wouldn't be complete without this album. Giltrap's signature tune 'Heartsong' is so ingrained into my generation that I can't imagine not owning it but to say that is the only worthy piece on the album would do Perilious Journey no justice at all. It is a genuinely good album and if you like your acoustic instrumental rock albums then you can do little better than this. It's a cross between John Renbourn and Rick Wakeman but I feel that Gordon himself would probably approve of that comparison. Sure it's a bit twee in places but it is superbly played and a must for a guitarists and guitar lovers. Don't understand why you haven't got it already really..... | [reply to this topic] |

ROBeatle Dayton, Ohio USA Created Thu 2nd Feb '12 03:27 (GMT) | | I have a Portrait sleeve version of The Beatles & Frank Ifie If anyone is interested, I am pleased to offer what can only be described as the Holy Grail of albums released in the U.S. by the fabulous Beatles: THE BEATLES & FRANK IFIELD "ON STAGE" RARE MONO LP. VEE JAY RECORDS. VJ 1085. 1964
This album is the mono version and is in absolutely pristine, unplayed condition. It was bought brand new by my deceased father. I discovered this record when I was sorting through the thousands of albums that he owned. (His record collection was mostly classical and Big Band.) This particular album (like all the albums he owned) is FLAWLESS. I'm sure it was never even played. I imagine he bought it to impress my Beatle-fanatic sister, who was 14 when the Beatles arrived on our shores.
In summary, this is an authentic, Ultra Rare "Portrait Cover" LP. THIS IS NOT A REISSUE!!! The cover is complete with spine print reading - "England's Greatest Recording Stars The Beatles & Frank Ifield On Stage." Very clear print on spine and both sides of album cover. Front, lower right corner has the bench lines. Vinyl is housed in the original VJ sleeve, advertising other Vee Jay releases. Vinyl sports the rainbow colorband label, with bracket Vee Jay logo.
On the run-off groove I found:
64-3852
URJ
1-18-64
a triangle followed by 6295
Finally, I think I can barely detect what looks like an "MR" within a circle, however, it is VERY faint.
I am confident you will never find another copy of this album in such perfect condition. The value of this super rare LP can only increase in value!!! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own the rarest album ever released by the Beatles in the United States!!! | [reply to this topic] |

The "Dead" Side.....well Just listen.... 'Poor Marie' got eaten by her dogs after she drank her self to death & "Endless Sleep" - bit like never waking up again and a fair bit like being "Dead".
