When Elvis Costello's burst on to the scene in 1977, he was immediatley put in the punk new wave catagories thznks mostly to his raging cynicism and anger. He borrowed all the good bits from every musical genre. 'My Aim Is True', his debut album, was released in the summer of 1977 to positive reviews, but it was his first with The Attractions, 'This Year's Model' that put him firmly on the road to success. After a successful period culminating with 1983's 'Punch the Clock', he suffered his first major down turn in fortunes with the release of 'Goodbye Cruel World' the following year. Costello reunited with the Attractions to record the majority of 1994's 'Brutal Youth' and following a lengthy tour in support of the album he finally issued his long talked about covers album 'Kojak Variety'. His releases contiued to attraact mixed reviews from the critics but his fan base never diminished. In 2003, he returned with 'North' and a collaboration with his new wife Diana Krall for her new album. Two very different albums were issued in 2004 with the classical 'Il Sogno' and the rock and roll, 'The Delivery Man'. With such a diverse selection of classic music to choose from there's no shortage of back catalogue rarities, amazing memorabilia and quality collectables, all available right here in our sepcialist Elvis Costello collectors store... |
