Green Day were part of the northern California underground punk scene and after spending a lot of time playing live to build up a following they released their first album '1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hour' at the end of 1989 and was greeted with rave reviews on the underground scene. Throughout the early '90s, the band continued to cultivate a cult following, with the release of their second album, 1992's 'Kerplunk'. The first release on a major label was 'Dookie'which was a huge success going on to sell over ten million copies around the world.'Insomniac' followed soon after and performed well and sold over two million copies yet none of its singles were as popular as those from 'Dookie'. Towards the end of '97 they issued 'Nimrod' but fans would have to wait a further three years for the follow up, the refreshingly poppy 'Warning'. The wait was even longer for the next outing but it was well worth the wait. 'American Idiot' issued in 2004 was an amazing collection of songs that spawned a string of hit singles that propelled the album to multi platinum sales and gave them the best reviews of their career. With a fantastic selection of music to choose from, there is no shortage of back catalogue rarities, amazing memorabilia and quality collectibles, all available right here in our specialist Green Day collectors store... |
