Details
Recorded live in front of a few hundred invited fans on February 9th & 10th 1959, this was the first LP release by Cliff & The Shadows, with 'The Drifters' name lasting just a few singles and this LP before they became The Shadows we all know today.
A brave move for a debut album, but a more 'party' atmosphere was injected into otherwise familiar songs, making it probably the first true British Rock & Roll record.
The newly christened 'Cliff' was just eighteen at the time.
Condition
The sleeve suffers from the familiar chipping at the corners and edges, but otherwise shows little general shelfwear, the spine remains easy to read, the colours are bright and laminate creasing is minimal.
Turning to the unlaminated back, there is a little understandable age darkening but nothing much to speak of and all text is clearly readable with intact flipbacks.
The vinyl remains in an VG+/EX- condition with just light surface scuffs to show for over half a century in the wild.
In addition, this copy has been autographed on the back by The Shadows. The signatures are a little faded, particularly Hank Marvin & Jet Harris, but after nearly sixty years the deficiencies in the inks used are highlighted.
In contrast, the Tony Meehan autograph is as clear as day, so he obviously owned a much better pen !
Although not mint this is still a nice example & the period signatures add to its appeal. A good chance to pick up a bargain & a great album to boot.
