John Lennon John Lennon's Coffee Table UK memorabilia

Tracklisting / Additional Info: |
After John & Yoko's move to America, this furniture remained in Storage with Mr. Brandish, who was advised after John's murder that he could keep them to dispose of as he wished. There is a letter to that effect as provenance for the items.
The coffee table itself [or tea table if you prefer] is approximately 45" in diameter with the top made of lipped brass. This is approximately eighteen inches high with six curved wooden legs, four of which swivel flat to the other two, which are fixed. Each leg is also tipped in brass.
The stools are tripod in nature with turned brass legs, standing approximately one foot high. The seat area is gently concave with vented sides.
Both table top & stool seats carry an intricate Eastern Lotus Flower design in an Egyptian style etched into black. The edges of both stools and table are milled.
A high quality item to be sure. We believe, although we cannot be sure, that this was purchased from Harrods in London.
We know how it is though. Sometimes words are not enough. At the bottom of the second set of photographs of the table, as seen above this, is a small crop of a photograph that appears in Dan Richter's excellent book 'The Dream Is Over', which can be seen at danrichter.com, where you can not only see the uncropped version, but also order the book.
Dan Richter actually stayed at Tittenhurst Park with John & Yoko and lived and worked with the couple fairly constantly between 1969 & 1973. He was also the original director of photography on John & Yoko's first version of the 'Imagine' film and credited on the Imagine LP inner as 'Personal Assistant'. One of the many photographs he took at Tittenhurst Park during this time was a picture of John & Yoko sitting on the very two stools we have here.
So there you have it. A combination of fate and circumstance meant that this furniture stayed in the UK when John & Yoko moved to America. It is only now, thirty five years after the unfolding of that tragic event in New York, that this piece of furniture has been released from being in private hands.
A unique, once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire something that was once owned and used by John Lennon & Yoko Ono, with impeccable provenance both written and pictorial.
It is very rare that we are able to offer something as extraordinary as this. It fills us with great pride that, once again, we are able to offer a true blue chip item to you.
