Review:
Before I comment I should give you all a brief but important history of the Australian Albert Productions record label. The label was around as a "logo" in the 60's and could be found on Parlophone records by Easybeats as well as Billy Thorpe & The Aztecs. It beacame a "label" in the early 70's and AC/DC was among it's first signings. EMI distributed the label in Australia over a long-term period until around 1990 when it switched to CBS for a couple of years. It reverted back to EMI around 1995 until around 2002 when it changed over to Festival Mushroom - Festival & Mushroom were both powerful Aussie record companies. Festival had a number of Aussie & international labels under it's umbrella including Atlantic (until the early 1970's), A & M & Island until the late 1980's...some their artists included U2, Traffic, Cat Stevens & Supertramp as well as many others. Mushroom was an Aussie independent distributed by Festival that grew bigger over the years (they discovered Kylie Minogue among many other Aussie luminaries). These 2 companies merged into FMR in around 2002 and then fell under the Warner Music umbrella. Sony/BMG took over distribution of Alberts in around 2006-2007. This timeline is important when checking out this AC/DC boxed set because the following will determine when it was issued.
I have a 2002 version of this boxed set and upon looking here at the CD listing details and I noted that it included "'74 Jailbreak". If this item listed is the 2002 version then the packaged CD's will be the original Australian catalogue including the group's 1st 2 Australian albums "High Voltage" & "T.N.T." as well as "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" with the original Aussie "drawing cover". Its should NOT INCLUDE the US compiled version of "High Voltage" & 5 track EP/mini-album ''74 Jailbreak" as well as the US "motel" cover art of "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap".
As stated previously the Albert Productions label changed distribution a few times over the years. This box was originally packaged as the "Boom Box" in the mid to late '90's under EMI and included 16 CD's. In 2002 it was repackaged under FMR with the current artwork and was expanded to all 18 albums to include "Stiff Upper Lip" thus bringing it up to date so check out the catalogue numbers on the individual discs. If it is a 2002 set then they will all have 'FMR' logos & 6 digit catalogue numbers starting with '335' on the CD spines -"Stiff Upper Lip" has 338662. The catalogue no. of the set then was 336132 and this is on the bottom of the box along with the yellow "FMR boxed logo". This is the set that I have including the "original 18" with custom picture labels on all discs. Sony/BMG took over Alberts distribution about 1-2 years ago and the box was repacked again keeping the same artwork but with the 2 US CD's replacing the Oz versions as listed above probably to make it "worldwide". Also the listing of this box here shows it as an "828" catalogue number (a Sony/BMG code) and it also lists US versions. "High Voltage" here then would be a US compilation of the best of the Australian "High Voltage" & "T.N.T" albums with different artwork - a painting of Angus Young on the front. This indicates it's a recent vintage and not the Australian FMR 2002 version. THis is crucial if you want the original Aussie "High Voltage", "T.N.T." & "Dirty Deeds" CD's.
It is a great way to have all of the AC/DC back catalogue. The albums are of varying quality but it's Acca Dacca...what else do I need to say!!

Question to EIL:[reply to this message]
Hi,
Can you tell me please do the serial numbers on the spines of the CD covers begin with 88.or 33.please? Also can you tell me is the record company “FMR” or “WARNER” please? Thank you. The box set I am after must have the discs and CD’s starting with the serial numbers of “33”. So if the discs and CD’s start with “88” then I don’t want it as I already own this box set – I collect AC/DC. The reason I’m not asking about the barcode is because the same serial numbered barcode is on both sets of 33 & 88 discs.
You do understand exactly what I’m asking you, yes? I know it sounds a bit geeky of me but please, humour me as it does make a big difference to me. Thank you so much.
Can you please let me know ASAP? Thank you so much.

Regards,
Neil McLaughlin
